When I caught myself kissing the cat good-night and patting my husband on the head, I knew I needed help.
After nineteen years of marriage and one kid, hubby and I are definitely getting complacent. That spark that used to power our relationship has long since been buried under responsibilities, work, and life in general. As an avid romance reader and aspiring romance author, I was embarrassed to realize how far I’d let my relationship go. When I read this description, “more love, more laughter – more lingerie,” I knew The Marriage Project would be right up my alley.
Little did I realize there would be “homework!” Or that I’d have to admit my flaws to another couple, at least long enough to rope them into doing the program with me. But, Kathy Lipp’s philosophy that 21 days can make or break a habit convinced me to go ahead and buy the book.
I’m glad I did.
At first, we slogged through the daily assignments. Giving each other 30 minutes of guilt free time, getting to know each other, cooking together, getting active together, dating each other, praying together. Then we got to the biggie — SEX!!! That’s when this assignment really started getting fun.
As of today, we are halfway through week two and I’m actually looking forward to each assignment (really can’t wait for lingerie day). Already, we are enjoying each other more. Surprisingly, even after being together all this time, I’ve learned a few new things about my husband.
I can’t say if The Marriage Project is the next big cure for rocky marriages. What I can say is that I’m having a heck of a lot of fun and even after this short amount of time, I can see a difference in mine. Of course, it helps that I’m no longer mixing up my good-nights anymore. ![]()

Whatever helps, do it! It’s funny how we search and search and then up pops a book of good ideas. I agree with Nicki. It sounds like fun.

She has been looking at me funny…grin… But I’m sure she’ll survive.
This has been a lot of fun. I think it would even be a good book for those who’s relationships are going great. It makes you dig deeper and learn more without seeming like a chore. I highly recommend it.

This reminds me of the movie I just saw last night, “Date Night,” which is about the same thing, a marriage going a little stale and the zany results.
Sounds like a good book.
