By Tami Brothers I remember sitting on the side of a crisp, calm lake squeezing salmon eggs onto my fishing hook. No matter how many jars you gave us, we usually had them empty by the middle of the first day. After that, if we wanted to fish any more we had to dig for worms. I remember how hard it was for the three of us girls to sit there and wait for a nibble. We were never any good at fishing because we couldn’t stop talking long enough to keep from scaring the fish away. [...]

by Linsey Lanier Right now, as you read these words, RWA’s 30th Annual National Conference is going on in Orlando. The likes of Nora Roberts, Debbie Macomber, and Linda Howard are getting ready to sign their umpteenth book. Everyone’s looking forward to the Keynote Luncheon (or already heard it), PAN and PRO members are getting excited about their Retreats. If I had my druthers, I’d go to writing conferences, especially Nationals, all year long just for the fun of it. They’re so exciting. Alas, I lack the funds, time, and energy — they’re also DRAINING. So Instead I’m sitting this [...]

Landon Donovan, Stricker, USA I know what you are thinking, she has lost her mind. Surprisingly I haven’t. Being interested in the World Cup soccer matches, especially when the USA was playing in the Sweet 16, gave me the opportunity to get my material in front of Angela James. She is the managing editor of Carina Press, Harlequin’s new digital first publisher. Angela was speaking at the Southern Magic Romance Writers meeting in Birmingham, Alabama a few weeks ago. I was on the front row in the hopes of getting all the insight I could on how to get Carina [...]

by Maxine Davis Have you ever been to an ‘all-day singing’ and ‘dinner on the ground?’ I have—recently. I attended the annual Hopewell Church, All-Day Sacred Harp Singing with Dinner On the Ground. They do sing from morning until mid-afternoon, stopping for a break or two and lunch, which brings me to ‘dinner-on-the-ground.’ It was lunch. I’m happy to say it was on picnic tables under a long shelter and consisted of everyone’s covered dish they brought to share. Absolutely delicious! Ah, you’re still wondering about that Fa-Sol-La ing in the title. It’s not a misprint. I [...]

Three Nights with a Scoundrel The Stud Club – Book #3 By Tessa Dare Publisher: Ballantine Release Date: July 27, 2010 ISBN-13: 978-0345518897 About halfway through Tessa Dare’s first book, Goddess of the Hunt, I thought to myself, “This woman is going to be a Star in the world of Romance Fiction.” Apparently others agreed because her second book, Surrender of a Siren (my favorite of the first trilogy) is a finalist for the coveted RITA® award at next week’s RWA National Conference. By the time I had finished the first two books in Dare’s new, and exquisitely [...]
