Welcome to the Land of the Unemployed

So the last time I blogged, I had jury duty. Last weekend, my house flooded. And, by the time you’re reading this, I’ll be standing in the unemployment line. I know. I know. I get to have all the fun. But, like herpes, I’m going to share. Below are some of my favorite interview questions and answers from this past week. Feel free to borrow. Interviewer: Are you planning on getting pregnant? Me: I just spent thirty minutes waiting for you in the lobby while your grandchildren screamed. Interviewer: And that means? Me: It means my tubes have tied themselves. [...]

Heart Month

By: Susan May Okay, I know that Valentine’s Day has past and that all the sweet cards are off the shelves and the TV jewelry ads have been replaced by car commercials but I couldn’t let the month end without a reminder that February is also National Heart Month. The heart is the hardest working muscle in the body. Just some brief facts that might impress you about the heart: It is about the size of  two fists, in an average life time the heart will beat 2.5 billion times and the heart can pump blood throughout the body in [...]

What Happens In The Mountains, Stays In The Mountains

OR How Daisy, Iris, Violet and Christmas Rose Became Lifelong Friends It is said that most people can count their number of true friends on one hand; many more can count them on their thumbs.  I am one of the most fortunate people in the world.  I have many friends.  This is about three of them.  Absolute, no-doubt-in-the-world, true friends.  Most people refer to anyone that they have met as “friend,” as in, “I have a friend with a sweater just like that one—I can’t think of her name right now, but I’m sure you know her,” or “A friend [...]

Tamara LeBlanc, Guest Chef

Hi! My name is Tamara LeBlanc. I’ve been writing seriously for five or six years now. I’m a member of Georgia Romance Writers, RWA, and a fantastic critique group consisting of three very talented women! I have two wonderful teenagers, a fabulous husband, four wily kitties, and, in my head, more characters than I can count. I love to write and wouldn’t do anything else in my spare time…well, maybe I’d like slathering Sam Winchester’s chest with baby oil before he does a shirtless scene on Supernatural…but until I’m needed there, I’ll keep writing. <g>                                                                                              Q:         So, tell us about [...]

Oh, Deer! Bambi’s in my Subdivision

By Marilyn Baron My husband took this picture with a telephoto lens from our deck during the great Atlanta January Snowstorm of 2011. I haven’t given much thought to Bambi since I watched the movie growing up. Now I feel like I’m starring in my own Disney film. No, I’m not living in an animated dream world or a nature preserve. I reside in a subdivision in an Atlanta suburb and I have white-tailed deer in my neighborhood. Not just an isolated deer or two, mind you. There are literally herds of them. I can hardly get any writing done because [...]
