by Darcy Crowder – Admittedly, our lives are dictated by some kind of deadline, whether it be work, school or household related. Most of my deadlines lately have been all organizational related. As the Maggie Chair, our Georgia Romance Writers annual contest, I’ve been reaching one deadline after the next facilitating the whole process, from seeking judges to announcements to handling entrants, and so on. Then there are my weekly responsibilities here at Petit Fours and Hot Tamales, scheduling and posting our Guest Chef’s on Wednesdays, supporting my blog sisters daily, and seeing that my own post is up on [...]

I think my coworkers are trying to domesticate me. It would make sense. I hit three months on Monday. The honeymoon period is over. By: Susan Carlisle Last month I took my daughter and niece to New York City. My mother tagged along making a good foursome. My daughter had been asking for years to go and I owed my niece a graduation trip, so we made the most of a couple of days before the Romance Writers of America’s National conference. My niece asked before we left, “Will we see any famous people?” “Sure, we have tickets to see Regis and Kelly and the play that Jim Belushi is staring in.” That would be an easy three. Sunday afternoon we saw Born Yesterday, [...]

by Carol Burnside I’m here to attest to the fact that Mother Nature waits on no one, least of all me, and my word count is suffering as a result. I don’t see that changing for the next few weeks because she’s rather mischievous. I can just see her now, a circlet of flowers woven into her long, flowing hair as she glides through my garden sprinkling growth hormones on some plants, robbing others of their fruits. Of course, she does this at daybreak, a time when I’m almost never awake (unless I haven’t yet made it to bed by [...]
